This handsome young man was born into this world on January 26, 2008.  After many hours and long days of mom and dad being in the hospital waiting for the arrival of their very first born child, Weston & Angie were finally relieved when they heard their son cry for the very first time ever.  Anxious grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and siblings waited patiently outside the labor room door.  Some grandparents were even traveling on the road with a cell phone in hand and on speakerphone, getting narrations from the goings on outside the hospital door.  Over and above the cries heard from the moments of pushing, you could hear the proud father yelling "Go baby, go baby, go baby .... GO!"  Then a sigh of relief from all in the room.  Contraction had past.  However, on the other end of the phone were Grandpa and Nana Heiney, wondering what was going on, as they were the grandparents and siblings that were on the road anxiously awaiting the new arrival as well.  GrandMama Kim then relayed the message that Weston was yelling to Angie.  You could hear the boisterous laughs coming from the other end of the phone as I repeated the cheer...and in return said "I'm not sure what I should say when the baby comes!  With the cheers Weston is yelling, I feel like I should yell "TOUCHDOWN!"  (Now that was funny, I don't care who you are!  LOL)

Finally, after only an hour of truly hard labor, Blade Thomas Heiney was born at 6:07 p.m.  Weighing in at a whopping 6lbs, 4oz and only 18 1/2" long, this young man sure made a lot of people very proud!  As I heard the baby crying from inside the room, I went around to the other door to see if I could get better sound for the Grandparents that were on the other end of the phone.  As I crossed the threshold of the room just outside the room where the baby was born, I was met by my son, the VERY proud father of the precious baby boy that was just born.  For all the moments in the world, none could match the moment my son became a father; and I was so blessed with being able to be there to hug my son the very first moments he became a father.  He came out of the room and ran right into my arms crying, "I'm a dad!  Mom... I'M A DAD!"  I couldn't seem to tell him enough just how proud I was of him and Angie both!  For being babies themselves, they sure did do a good job with that baby not only for the 9 months she carried him, but a good job was done while bringing him into the world as well.
There is not a doubt in my mind that they will continue to be the wonderful parents they have been up to this point!

Baby Blade had to stay in the hospital for just a few more days after his birth, but he was born very healthy and vibrant.  On January 31, 2008 he was allowed to go home and be comfy in his own surroundings.  When I went over to visit with him on the 1st of Feb, I was tickled to see him sleeping in a baby's bath.  I asked Angie if they needed a bassinet for him to sleep in, and she said "No, he prefers to sleep in that.  He doesn't even like to sleep in his crib."  LOL, well... it only makes sense, as it's a lot the same as the bassinettes they have in the nursery! He was, after all,
in their beds for the first 5 days of his life.  That was security for him.

I'm a VERY proud Grandmother and I know I'm not the only proud one.  There are three more that are just as proud.  And that's not mentioning the Great Grandparents or the Great, Great Grandparents, either!
Blade Thomas, you are one loved little baby bear!  (As Papa Bear (Bill) calls him)
